I’m Cath Feely and I’m a social and cultural historian of modern Britain. I am Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Derby, where I teach on a wide range of courses in British and European history.

My published work to date has largely been on working-class reading and writing practices, and the history of the press, in the 19th and 20th centuries. I am now working broadly on the history of public history, especially the civic use of heritage in interwar Britain. I am also ill-advisedly writing something about my family history in the context of modern British urban history, which has somewhat grown from some of my posts on this blog and will probably dominate it fitfully in the nexr few years..

My University of Derby staff profile can be found here.
